How Prescription Delivery Works and the Many Benefits for Seniors

Medication delivery offers many benefits to seniors, which is one of the many reasons why Clover Health is a preferred Medicare Advantage plan.

By Clover Health

Did you know that 87 percent of Americans over the age of 65 take prescription drugs on a regular basis? And on average, those people take four different prescriptions each day.

Prescription drug delivery has become even more important for seniors during COVID-19. Now more than ever, it’s critical to stay home and minimize the chances of contracting the virus, and prescription delivery is a valuable service to avoid face-to-face interaction.

Clover Health offers a way for members to get their prescription drugs without risking exposure: a prescription delivery service right to your door at no extra cost with CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy.

Clover Health’s Medication Delivery Service and Benefits

As a Clover Health Medicare Advantage plan member, CVS Caremark mail-order service sends up to 100-day refills right to your door. The service offers cost savings and eliminates trips to your local pharmacies, making getting your medications much easier. Keep in mind, you will need provider authorization for 100-day fills and restrictions do apply for certain medications.

This service is especially critical to those with physical mobility issues, who don’t have a car, or who live in rural areas and need easier ways to get their prescriptions. Proximity to an in-network pharmacy shouldn't preclude you from living your healthiest life. CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy delivers anywhere in the United States to reach all Clover Health plan members—regardless of location.

Medication delivery also helps you keep your prescription schedule consistent to maintain your health. You'll never worry about missed doses because you can’t make it to the pharmacy for any reason. The service also helps keep track of your refill prescriptions schedule. Consistent access and reminders may help you feel more peace-of-mind and help you stay on track.

How CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy Works

  1. Register for an account on the CVS Caremark website with your Clover Health ID member identification number.
  2. Then,  CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy will contact your doctor for a 100-day prescription.
  3. You can use this CVS Caremark website to request new medication deliveries in the future as well as refill, renew, or check order status.
  4. Or, call the customer care number on your Clover Health ID card, and we’d be happy to take care of the whole process for you.

You may opt in to receive status alerts by phone, text, or email so that you know when to expect the delivery. If you download the CVS Caremark mobile app, you can manage your prescriptions with the touch of a button.

What Drugs Does Clover Health Cover?

The Clover Health formulary is a list of drugs that are covered under your plan. These drugs include both brand-name prescription drugs and generic drugs. When signing up for CVS Caremark mail service for long-term medications taken on a regular basis, it may benefit you to have your doctor write two prescriptions: one filled for immediate short-term supply and a second for up to a 100-day supply with as many refills as medically appropriate.

To find out which drugs Clover Health covers, search our formulary. If a drug you take is not included, you have a few options:

Search Clover’s Pharmacy Network

In addition to our prescription delivery program, we also have an extensive pharmacy network which includes standard and preferred pharmacies. We partner with many pharmacies to manage the cost of prescriptions and your costs for some drugs may be less at pharmacies that offer preferred cost-sharing. Search your plan’s pharmacy directory on our website to find a network pharmacy near you.
